Another scream
This time it’s not just a dream
She walks away with a dangerous thought
And he’s not even angry they just fought
Two pairs of eyes look up with worry
They don’t understand the fury
He storms out through the door
She paces back and forth on the floor
Little hands reach out for a hug
Careful to step over the broken mug
She whispers comforting things
But more to calm herself of what stings
They go to sleep without him there
She can’t help but notice the bed feels bare
She doesn’t regret what she said
Yet she’s filled with never ending dread
He’s out getting a drink
Just one shot to make the anger sink
He hopes the kids are safe and well
And that the alcohol on his breath won’t smell
He knows to get her flowers and food
It usually fixes every feud
They hope that their parents will get along
Why can’t they see they both are wrong?
