Sunita

One flower, one song

Unlike all the other girls
I wouldn’t buy you a million flowers
A million ribbons
One of all the different kinds and colors
Like all the other women
I wouldn’t learn all the music and dances
Only so you could see and notice my rightful intentions
In our private place, captured in this time and space
I wouldn’t bring you so many token of my love and your grace

Had you been any other boy
Yes
I would learn all the languages
To impress your boyish whim
I would rip and burn many pages
To show you the brightest of flames

Had we been so indifferent
Our hearts and souls untied
I would beg and cry and plead
To know all your interests
And each other\'s minds to read

But you’re you and I am me
So I don’t need all of these
I don’t need every flower but the one you so adore
I won’t buy all the books but the one with your heart and soul
It isn’t about the many languages but the one your eyes speak
And it\'s  only about the dances you crave and so much so the music

Because you know me, and as do I you
I only need your favorites
Your rhythm and your blues
