So Handsome

To my oldest…

You are my living legacy, born of spirit and of bone,

A power all your own that rises every time you stand.

My eyes, my laugh, my likeness in the way you’ve grown,

You honor our story well, carrying our name as a man.

Because son, you\'re so handsome, keep your soul guarded well.

Don’t give your heart to chapters that were never meant to be.

The world resists a young Black man with vision he won’t sell,

Let the Spirit be your anthem, your compass toward prosperity.

Son, you\'re so handsome—my greatest work, my seed.

Son, you\'re so handsome—more than a father could believe.

It breaks me down to watch you rise and shine like this;

You make it look so natural, redefining what handsome is.

To my youngest…

You consume so much of me, reshaping everything I knew,

Your absence still echoes softly, carving space where love expands.

Your heart is like mine—but wiser, braver, beautifully new,

You carry my negritude with a freer, more fearless stand.

Because son, you\'re so handsome, keep your soul guarded well.

Don’t give your heart to chapters that were never meant to be.

The world resists a young Black man with vision he won’t sell,

Let the Spirit be your anthem, your compass toward prosperity.

Son, you\'re so handsome—my little king in motion.

Son, you\'re so handsome—more than a father’s quiet devotion.

It brings tears to my eyes to know you’re no phantom,

But a prayer answered fully—look at how you\'re so handsome.
