Yesterday seems so long ago.
I remember the smell of the yellow rose
you carefully placed in the band of your hat,
the stream that ran near where we sat,
the look of pleasure that illumined your face.
It was a moment of eternal grace.
We walked through the meadow, hand in hand;
beheld the mountain as sunlight ran
through slotted canyons, like liquid gold.
All the beauty around me moved my soul.
And I heard the earth gasp, then breathe a sigh
at the sight of your smile as you passed by.
Yesterday seems so long ago,
but from those hours I clearly know
that I will love you, without limits or bounds
