Tired, dark house,
wind hollowing,
its walls creak in pain.
Bone-chilling emptiness
expanding in every corner.
What was light and bright
now succumbs to dust.
The same adobe,
once bountiful with joy,
now numb…
A quiet wish for change.
The sun would warm the place,
if only it were allowed
to glow once more,
reflected in furnishings
and picture frames.
Beloved memories
rise to the surface.
Still feeling paralysed.
