SILENCE TO CALL

When sadness came
I built a wall
To protect me
From the storm
In a place
Ive been before
A windowless room
Without a door.

Set adrift
No friends at all
No listening ear
Ceiling and walls
Hour by hour
Silence to call
Its whistling tone
Its echo born.

I will return
As before
Step outside
An open door
Leave behind
The cruel times
The tears wept
No more lies.
