Raindrops

I watch the Raindrops rolling down my window pane

As the storm grows stronger by the minute

The trees are bending in the strong wind

Trying to shelter there a little Linnet

Who looks drenched and so forlorn

Trying to find shelter from the rain

I wish I could give him a better place to shelter

And keep him warm and dry again

A soaking wet Deer goes running by

Scuttling fast across the lawn

Trying to find shelter in the woods

Followed quickly by a little light brown fawn

Nature can be quite cruel when it wants to be

Especially in a Windy, Rainy storm

Like me I suppose they must be thinking

I need a place that’s safe and warm

The raindrops still fall for quite while

Dark clouds remain overhead for hours

My gaze is interrupted by

Seeing all the bedraggled flowers

Their petals being blown everywhere

Strewn across the ground like blanket of colour

Their stems now swaying in the wind

Which look so sad a duller

As I gaze through the trickling raindrops

The storm seems to moving away

It’s getting brighter by the minute

Maybe it will be a brighter day

Everything looks so wet and windswept

It makes me sad to see what damage has been done

But at least we are being greeted

By a lovely drying Sun.
