Cest la Vie

From a fine little Cottage by the Shade of a Tree,

In a Garden we\'d sit by the Settling of the Sun,

Theres a Hutch with a Rabbit for the Children to Love,

And a glass of the Grape now the Eve has begun.

I would see a far Spire amongst the Swelling green Dales,

Where the Shadows of Clouds sweep over the grey Lake

Through the flaming Red Boughs that dip to a Well,

That Partner the calls of the Curlew and Drake.

With Tea cleared away and our friends being Home,

Now laughter and talk since taken it\'s flight, It\'s just you next to me,  and the Silence of Now,

The Bristling of Day into the Calming of Night.

There you sit all complete in a bright Yellow dress,

Your feet in the grass , the  dying light in your Hair,

But as I open my eyes to the truth of it all-

I\'m alone in this life and you never were there.
