I rise from the throne of my conquered domain,
The sheets of my kingdom still warm from my reign.
I’ve sat long enough, now I answer the call,
The corridor stretches, a long endless hall.
My feet hit the cold ground, a shiver, a sign,
The journey is starting, the mission is mine.
The darkness surrounds me, I navigate blind,
I leave all my comfort and warmth far behind.
I reach the first chamber, a hum fills the air,
A mechanical altar, it knows that I’m there.
I extend my hand to the vessel of fate,
I’ve come all this way and I simply must wait.
The silence is heavy, the mission unclear,
But I’ve trained for this moment for my whole career.
And then… a vibration, a rattle, a clink,
I’ve found what I came for, I stand at the brink.
Into the void I descend without fear,
The destination is calling, the purpose is clear.
I’ve done this before but tonight feels the same,
An infinite cycle, I’ll never be tame.
This is it. The moment of truth.
I extend my trembling hand into the dark wooden booth.
My fingers close around the cylinder object.
And my mind starts to linger but I mustn’t forget.
carry to the second altar, make sure it was cool.
I grip the chrome lever and it yields from my pull
The liquid of life cascades into the vessel.
I raise it. I drink. My thirst is lesser.

man now I’m wide awake. I should’ve just stayed in bed, the water bottle was right there.
