The Beginning of The End

I think to myself,

Is this the rapture that was foretold?

I stand on the edge of the mountain top,

Where the stars seem to be level with us,

Hand in hand,

Sirens wailing as if we only now need a warning.

I cut my hair last night like I\'ve always wanted

Its a shame no one but you got to see it

And as I watch the snow fall,

An unnatural light on the horizon,

I grip you tighter

I knew it was coming but even realization,

Cannot cure the fear,

That death ringing the doorbell brings.

I see comets, and as they fall towards the ground they bloom,

Oranges and yellows blossoming through the sky.

And I think,

They are beautiful.

What a way to go out, I say to you.

Watching petals of fire dance

And as we begin to feel the heat,

I turn,

Watching the stars and flames,

As they reflect and glow in your eyes,

The end is near.

From down below I hear the choir singing,

May the angels bring you peace

no one expects that in the end,

The angels set the world on fire,

But as I look at your eyes,

And see my own fear reflected back,

I think that,

How poetic it is,

To not go out with a bang,

But with a whimper.
