There is a Tree

There is a Tree be it Near or far ,

That One Black day hence a large Gasket made.

Its there now growing under Heavens Sun:

Absorbing the foul Carbon dioxide,

Producing Oxygen, Cleaning the Air,

To Drinking the Cool unceasing Rainfall,

And Standing throughout Heat and Cruel Frost,

Basking in all that Nature can endow.

Maybe Mother laid me there one fine day:

Maybe I climbed aloft when a small boy:

Maybe one time a timid Sweetheart kissed;

Carved her name in some Passionate red heat,

Or sat beneath, Composed a line or two,

Enwrapped in a Book by the Haworth Girls.

And every year Growing and getting Strong,

While the days are Numbered for yours truly.

No doubt we\'ll meet again some solemn day,

When it\'s Tailored for my eternal rest,

For - I can feel it\'s Presence in the World:

A Shadowed Stalker keeping it\'s distance.
