Treading the path our footsteps made

We Follow the path through the woodland dell,

A path the Dog and I know well

From sunlight into dappled shade

Treading the path our footsteps made

Wild garlic flowers line the way

as we walk beneath the forest canopy

Branches heavy with leaves of green

A symphony of springtime colours seen

A blackbird trills his joyous song

While robin and sparrow sing along

Drawing us deeper into the glade,

Treading the path our footsteps made.

The path leads past ancient trees

Whose branches sway in the gentle breeze

Filtered Sunlight lights our way

Along the path we tread each day

Harvey dog ranges over the ground

Sniffing each scent and testing each sound

Running ahead, free of collar and lead

Treading the path our footsteps made

After a while the tree line thins

The path leads to the world again

Leaving behind nature’s peace

Where daily fears and worries cease.

We leave the woodland and head for home

Looking ahead to next time we roam

Next time beneath the woodland shade

Treading the path our footsteps made
