Wings Attached and then Connected

Wings attached lift thrust and flap

Muscle ache and yearn under my skin and with that I screech

Wings attached lift thrust and flap

My heart pounds against its cage and with that I screech

Wings attached lift thrust and flap

My brain throbs against its cranium and with that I screech

Wings attached heave propel and flutter.

Wings attached that can not hold on any longer.

So I fall.

And I fall.

And I fall even lower.

I hit the ground with a “Snap!”—One of my legs now in half.

As it tries to bend and heal I can\'t find myself to fly.

and yet with that I chirp

muscles set under my skin; I chirp

my heart twitches against my chest; I chirp

my mind vibrates upon my skull; I chirp

connected wings now lay on the ground

I smile now, without having to make a sound.
