From The South I Rose

From the south I rose

I rose safe and sound

London is my home

I’m a Londoner and proud

bedsits verse the penthouse

same street address

whilst the tramp sleeps

in his cardboard home

down below

no such luxuries no home abode

a million miles apart

vagabonds, a clown a yuppie

neighbors with no common ground

yet respect always found

taxi’s come taxi’s go

the rain and streetlights all aglow

graffiti art, train lines loud

posh rooftop bars

and in the gutter, drunks drown

pubs and karaoke

music and beer

live football in some

as hooligans cheer

from the south I rose

I rose safe and sound

London is my home

I’m a Londoner and damn proud.
