I am a cuckoo,
An insidious,
Parasitic creature,
Burrowing into
Feathered nests,
An imposter,
I do not belong.
You don\'t see now,
But the time will come.
A quiet moment
When you glance
Towards me, and
Recognise me
For what I am,
Shattering the illusion,
That lets me appear
As more than
A shadow.
So I\'ll flee,
Behind the mirror,
Nail the doors shut,
Survive in a room
The light cannot reach.
Still a broken thing,
But free to just be,
Far from the sightline
Of a cold, cruel world,
There is a comfort
In being alone.
