The climb

You have a way of - undoing me,
Minds working overtime,
Dreading the climb, to once in a lifetime.
I know you will, but I feel the need - be gentle.
I\'m not used to being anything other than - ornamental.
With my walls covered in armour I\'m praying you\'re a charmer - a world class disarmer.
Because my trenches are deep and the monsters, they never sleep, they creep, they creep

                                    - they creep.

The romantic in me is buried alive in endless trepidation,
She claws and she gnaws, only taking pause as she hears the applause.
Love was always transactional - fractional,
With needs unmet, promises swept and dreams unkept,
Used, refused, abused, - just damn confused.
So be patient, please, I\'m almost there,
Because you don\'t shy away from something - so rare.
