Growing old

When I was young the good never lied, heroes were real and no one died
A house up in the trees, swings, kites on a breeze, a bicycle, scuffed knees
Minutes turn years, bullies spit fears, school, church, golden rule
Hairs sprouting on my chin, first taste of gin, men\'s magazines of sin
First date, timid touch, good night kiss, out too late, fate turned into a mate
Sweat and labor, moves, new neighbor, no money, a child, an angel smiled
Tot to boy time flies, grandchildren to enjoy, age\'s disguise
Rocking chair, muscles weak, blank stare, sagging skin, white hair
