With eyes
That never smiled
Two drinks inside
Late to arrive
Takes a seat
In corner cover
He lost a bride
Once a lover.
The old coat
About to weep
To look beyond
Free of sleep
A bridegroon without
A bride in white
Haunted still
About that night.
Returned home early
In time to find
His wife and best man
Bodies entwined
Took a drink
And then another
Never stopped
His soul to shudder.
