If it were I,

If it were I:

If it were I who stood at Aphrodite’s door and made to choose between you and every inch of paradise, I’d Choose you - because every inch of you is paradise. If it were I who stood between the bridge of heaven and you the rubble of hell, I’d choose to switch every time.

If it were I who dug up the bones of your body, I’d cradle them until it were you back in my arms, until it was I who were bone and you flesh. If it who had to stare down Medusa, I’d turn into a stone statue that appealed to your eyes.

If it were I who ruled a kingdom of oh so many, I’d give it all up to love you and let you go one last time. If it were I who had to fight the devil to get back to you, I’d do it all over again.

But if it was I who had to choose how to live, I’d choose this life and you every time.

Because if one day,

I woke up in hell, and you in heaven,

I’d be glad it was you who made it.
