A visit by her
An old friend knocked on my door yesterday
but didn’t have any physical form, you can say
She isn’t just a “friend”; she’s so much more
Much worse, worse than the nemesis you once adored
An uninvited guest leans on my frame
But she has a name
A name so haunting, a name I want to forget
I can’t; her memories are the ones that fret
Fretting along my path, wherever I go
There’s absolutely nothing I can do
She’s accompanied by panic
and makes me go absolutely manic
Suddenly, the walls start to close in, and all I can hear is my heart racing
Dread, fear, dystopia, with her and panic dancing
My “friend” controls me like a puppet, like it’s her accord
I’m disconnected from our reality, forming a discord
She follows me in every shadow
That’s a feeling I don’t want to endow
In an attempt to be better
She gets triggered, and no one can get her
She says it’s to “save me from the perils”
but never realizes she makes me imperil
Her name is anxiety
and she’s looked down upon by society
That doesn’t make her pitiful
If anything, she’s awful
and god, I want her away,
