A crumpled note
Left in the pocket of my old coat
The words not meant for me
But for the person I used to be
The person that signed
I didn’t know the name left behind
This note all torn and folded
Years of dust and eroded
Sweet to my ear, read aloud
A soft whisper among the crowd
A story best left untold
Yet it warms my hand to hold
Just that crumpled note
