Not Care to Remember

\"How do I say your name?\" I asked
\"But in your mother tongue\"
You patiently pronunciate
Till in my ears it rung

A month went by and still I play
The same self-righteous game
So once again I did inquire
\"How do I say your name?

No beat went by as you replied
With words that burn like ember
I rolled my eyes as you said I
\"Did not care to remember\"

And yet you stayed and said your name
With as much patience as you could
I told you I would get it
But I doubt you thought I would

Face to face with shattered ego
Recollections flood my mind
Remembered every redundant question
Yet not an answer could I find

Every date I asked them to repeat
I could have written down
So many outstretched hands in front of me
But I still preferred to drown

Memory is fleeting
But still, I cannot lie
I didn\'t \"not care to remember\"
I just didn\'t care to try
