The Day I Left

No one noticed

the exact moment
I became
someone who was leaving.

It wasn\'t dramatic.

There were no storms.
No final argument.
No doors
slammed shut.

Just a quiet morning

where I packed
more memories
than clothes.

I walked
through every room
a little slower,

as if my footsteps
were trying
to memorize the floor.

The walls
had watched me grow.

They knew
the sound
of my laughter.

They also knew
the silence
I never spoke about.

Outside,

the road
looked the same.

But I wasn\'t.

Leaving
doesn\'t begin
when you close the gate.

It begins
the first time
you realize

you no longer belong
to the place
that once felt
like your entire world.

I didn\'t cry.

Sometimes

grief
is too quiet
for tears.

I only looked back

one last time,

hoping
the house
would remember me

even after
it learned
to live
without my footsteps.

People say

every journey
starts with hope.

Mine

started
with an ache

that had no name.

And even now,

whenever I return,

I never enter
as the person
who left.

Because the hardest truth
about leaving

is this

you don\'t just leave
a place.

A part of you

stays behind,

waiting

for someone

who will never
come back.
