I climbed a fence
That was covered with rose bushes,
But thorns lay beneath the green.
It was midnight, when only the moon could see,
And anytime car lights shined,
I hid, even if it meant falling.
With morning came their insults.
Their red faces, black hearts, and blue lips would sting,
And the knives they threw never missed.
But when their eyes fell
And their bodies froze,
I would come out and be free.
People know so little of me,
For they never saw the wars I won.
And they won\'t see the scars I have,
Because the light will never be on me.
But when I sat atop a fence with thorns beneath,
I was met with a sky glowing with forgiveness.
And if red were to seep through my clothes
As I sat there,
I would still look up at the moon,
For He\'s the only one who has known me all along.
