THE WATCHER

Within a moment
Trapped in time
I saw an angel weep
From starry eyes
Golden were
The tears to fall
Downward steep
An unanswered call.

The heavy wings
Hung so low
Defeated broken
White as snow
Marbled hands
Clenched in prayer
The isolation
Cold and bare.

To the watcher
A poet alone
Sorrowed brow
Without a home
Two lost souls
Each wave of pain
Both unaware
They were the same.
