Sowing the Seed of Love

Sowing the Seed of Love
(in the style of Shakespeare)

Kindness and love do flow from thy glad being,
Radiant with a light most pure and bright,
That falls upon my soul with gentle seeing,
And drives the ebbing darkness from my sight.

That darkness which would else engulf my heart,
And choke the seed of my salvation\'s growth,
Is chased away by thee, who plays the part
Of morning sun that banishes the night\'s dark oath.

Cascading words of rapture from thy lips
Pour forth like waterfall in joyful stream,
Exciting, fresh, that loneliness eclipse,
And fill my dying pool with hope\'s new dream.

Endless rays of morning\'s bright-eyed promise
Shine diamond-like within thy gaze so fair,
Across the wasteland of my heart\'s bleak compass,
Reviving barren soil with hope and care.

Thus may a new-sown crop of pleasing thought
Take root and flourish deep within my breast,
That thy soft hands may reap the harvest wrought—
The bounteous yield of love that is my best.
