When I was afraid

I was never afraid of the dark

Nor spiders or snakes

I’d ride every rollercoaster in the park

Every adventure I’d embark

All without a scratch or mark

And I wasn’t afraid of earthquakes

At camping grounds by the lake

I heard tales and stories

Of things I thought were fake

They’d scare me so bad I’d begin to shake

And in the night I’d be awake

Afraid of zombies and laboratories

I then was filled with so much fear

I hid away forever

I stocked up on food for a year

And my home had so much drear

Every day I’d lose a single tear

When asked if I’d leave I said ‘Never!’

Two years went by, I was quite sad

I hadn’t seen the light of day

And I thought that was rather bad

There was no room left on my notepad

And I started to get mad

“I’m going to leave!” is what I would say

I let myself be terrified

Instead of living life

Going about a normal day wasn’t something I had tried

I felt that if I left I would’ve died

That’s why I chose to hide

But was it worth it over living life?
