Cognitive Fog

Fog in my head

Threads turning thin

Thoughts try to rise

Static kicks in

Gray in my chest

Cold in my lung

Words try to form

Die on my tongue

Mind like a wire

Sparks when I breathe

Truth tries to speak

Can’t even leave

Steps in a haze

Lost in the blur

Shadows ahead

Moving before

Dreams in a drift

Fading too slow

Answers appear

Then tell me no

I reach for a thought

It slips like a lie

Falls through my hand

Refuses to try

Fog in my pulse

Fog in my name

Fog in the place

I hide all my shame

Static that hums

Static that stays

Static that eats

The edges of days

And I stand inside

This quiet disease

Where my mind should speak

But drops to its knees
