A beast lives in my mind,
The beast is hungry and must be fed,
The beast\'s needs must be met,
The beast hasn\'t left in a long time.
The beast is angry ; he roars to life ,
I try to bind him in frail chains,
But all my efforts go to vain,
The chain eventually breaks,
The beast has risen to life ,
With him , my sanity he takes.
The beast has a huge appetite,
He preys on my insecurities and my fears,
He drains out of me all my fight ,
The beast stabs me again and again with his weapon of choice; a spear.
The beast is sneaky; he is smart ,
He creeps up behind me when I least expect it,
He takes a knife and my throat he slits,
I bleed out onto the paper; immortalising him in my art .
I am but a slave to the beast ,
He whispers sweet nothings in my ear,
He makes me do things I promised myself I wouldn\'t,
For him, I am but a mere puppet .
He attacks when he knows I am vulnerable,
He attacks in full force,
And I become unstable,
I scream to the deaf for help ; I scream until my throat turns hoarse.
Nobody can stop the beast,
Not even me ,
Despite all that is at stake,
The beast will take my life,
And his shadow will follow me even to my wake .
