Ice Cream

Because I could not stop for ice cream,
ice cream kindly stopped for me.

I was sweating and parched, standing
outside my house, when a truck
came by around a quarter to three.

Blasting loud classic circus sounds,
pushing frozen treats to the masses.
I could hardly believe my timing and luck,
even after adjusting my glasses.

Oooh what shall I get, I thought to myself;
as children materialized in front of me, right
out of thin air.  Hopefully there will be
something left.   Come on everybody, let\'s
keep it fair.

The frenzy was fast and fierce as wrappers flew
and chocolate and syrup smeared their young faces.
Reminded me of my glory days of old; soon as the
Sun rose, it was off to the races.

After the kids had their fill, I stepped up to
order mine.   Got a waffle cone with 2 scoops,
sat in the shade and had myself a nice cool time.
