Through fear, they cling to the top,
Not knowing when they’re going to drop,
For this is the last harvest, last crop.
As the scared fill the shops,
Shelves empty of what they need, not want,
But too little, too late,
There’s a set date.
Families come close to await their fate,
The crumbling governments that held them up,
Warring over how to fill their cups,
Storing the last we’ve got.
Now the land is barren and hot,
The seas are higher, the trees are not,
The clips are empty, the last bullet was shot.
Then those who fell from the top
Have nothing, just dirt and rock.
Now the Earth is taking back what it lost.
Now the world feels its strongest gusts
And heaviest rain,
To purge the land and start again.
The spheres adjust,
The Earth repairs
From great rain, great gust.
Now the world is free
From envy, gluttony and lust.
Now life’s below an icy crust.
Now the Earth is safe.
It was just enough.
