Touched by Grace
Doctors, nurses, and caretakers—
you are people touched by grace
before the world ever knows your names.
Called into a holy work
long before you ever understood
the weight of that calling,
you stepped forward
where others could not,
and gave yourselves to lives
that depended on your hands,
your wisdom,
your mercy.
There are those who may never see
the depth of your gift,
never understand
the silent battles you fight,
the sleepless nights,
the steady courage,
the sacred promise you made
when your journey began.
But I have seen it.
I have lived it.
I have stood at the edge
of life and death
and felt the strength of your devotion
pull me back.
It was your skill
that carried me.
Your care
that held me.
Your grace
that became my miracle.
I know now, with certainty,
that not everyone could do
what you do.
Not everyone could bear
what you bear,
or give
what you give, or keep compassion alive
in the face of so much pain.
What you have done for me
has been written into my soul
with a fire that will never fade.
I will remember you always—
for the hands that healed,
for the hearts that stayed,
for the lives you touched
with dignity, strength, and love.
And for all I have witnessed,
for all I have been blessed by,
I stand here in awe,
deeply honored,
and forever grateful.
