WHEN THE WAR IS OVER

Sacred are
The silent thoughts
That no one notices
Or reports
A pain inside
Hidden by a smile
That walks aside
Another mile,

A silent suffering
With dignity held
No outstretched hands
No voice to send
A plea for help
Upon lifes road
A mystery
Which cannot be told.

Eyes that bear
A warriors tale
Horror etched
In violent haze
A symbol of
What war can do
Unnoticed by
Me and you.
