Refuge

I take refuge in myself

On my own

With the light of the day does my soul revive

Recuperating dormant memories and sentiment

As the sediment in the fabric of my being

That adjust not to its own nature but what it has witnessed

In the everlasting morning of my conscience

That abates me and all this violence

Where my aggression severely perspires

Through the musk of the flooded swamp

That fogs over, boils over, spills over the cement

That cannot contain it.
