Today I blinked twice and looked,
And oh, I found something new.
There were these bars of steel around me,
Once a clutch, into a cage they grew.
It is astonishing how I didn\'t know,
What I had done to myself.
In trying to protect my inner child,
I\'d thrown my feelings onto a high shelf.
I tried to yank at the bars today,
To set me free.
Turns out I made so many mistakes,
they\'re now made of reinforced steel.
I\'ve screamed and cried in this box of my making.
Begged and pleaded, hoped to see it breaking.
I want so bad to be handheld.
To be guided out of here with some love.
I tried to set it on fire, believe me, I did.
The flames licked me alive,
They harmed my inner kid.
Now there are charred remains to remember me by.
And I wonder in this darkness,
As I sit on the grimy floor.
Would love have been able to save me?
Would it have been so bold?
To love someone is to learn them,
Then tell me where are my people.
I\'ve looked everywhere with bloodstained hands,
Help me find my path to freedom.
