as I sat
alone
in a dark corner
of my room,
a sudden thought
came to me
of how the monsters
that once
used to haunt my
dreams
and live under my
bed,
and the ones I
thought
would pull me down
if I kept my feet
outside the blanket
for too long,
all of them
seemed
far less scary
than what stood
beyond my door
out there
in the world
for me.
