Electricity drips from dusky wires
as dreamy sparks alight
the tender grass below the span
and the animals affright.
The spectacle starts, the stage is set
to start the forest blaze
engulfing nature twig by twig,
the circling birds in haze.
Fire is not satisfied
it knows not when to quit;
engulfing every thing it sees
consuming every bit.
But then we hear the thunder roll
as the rain makes embers hiss;
and snuffs out the conflagration with
a gleaming, cooling kiss.
