What is the point of life, if memory lets it go down the drain?
Experiences like subscriptions I once had but never renewed.
I guess everyone’s brain loves to hit this wall
of 12 years at school, learning things I can’t remember at all.
You must understand, episodic truths are far too informative to be viewed,
I mean, who remembers the first woman they saw nude?
No, no, they’re to be kept away for safekeeping.
But what if I wrangle them back? “’Til death do us part,” and all that crap.
I can try all I like, but even intelligence cannot outdo time;
It cannot pay overdue bills and avoid the chasers from bailiffs.
After all, it was thinking - though of the clueless kind - which got me into this mess.
I’ll be long gone before I get the useful knowledge back,
all lost down the drain of memories’ lack.
