A man must die in the storm,
burn in the fire,
drown in the ocean,
just to prove his love.
Still, he ends up alone.
It doesn’t matter who shares his bed,
what he owns or doesn’t,
what street he calls home,
what he wears,
what colour holds his skin.
Loneliness doesn’t check credentials.
It comes for every kind of man,
the same way, every time.
Like a nightmare he can’t wake from.
Most never do.
