Going Beneath The Surface

The smell of death
presses straight
into my nostrils
as the rusty
cliché words
of inhuman realism
fall crumbling before me
losing their meaning
turning harmony
into imperfection

Why did all of this
become
once again unimaginative
and so quickly

Why did existing positivity
turn into negativity
and existing love into hate

I feel nothing now
except this pressure on my skin
digging into my flesh
sinking deep into my soul

When will we find
something new
within ourselves again

Now there is only this
twisted reality before us
colored with rusted
worn ambiguity

Here, where
the empty words
fill the white pages
with gray silence
whispered sentences
tell us
how goodness is destroyed
by madness

I hear echoes of the past
cries of the future.

Now we only go
beneath the surface
at the cost of our breath
at any price.

My blind mind reflects
thoughts as spoken words
from a place
where my mind
is an empty, blind, black mirror.

It does not separate
things from each other
everything is the same
a gray mass

I breathe this thickening air

This life is like a line drawn in water
where everything is so fleeting

Burning as a fire in the flames of life
I vanish as smoke into the air
and return to the muddy earth.

Before the final chaos
I hold onto my inner peace
and begin my war.
