Life keeps going with burdens on the head
Workload after workload, there’s never an end
And everyone has a different job filled with different expectations
And all I see are papers and pens
And coffee stains, and I smell coffee breath
Needing help to stay awake
While my brain drains of any peace that I have left
There’s no stop unless you’re in traffic, and there’s no flow
With stacks of papers
Or hundreds of emails to be read
There’s no break for the living, only the dead
And even then, there’s work to be done
A grave to dig, a tombstone to be made
And it’s as simple as this
No work, no pay
And no pay means death
And sometimes your work is getting the best grades
And if you don’t, it’s disappointment
And I can hear yelling
And arguments on the way
Talks about how we need to grow up
No time for play
I don’t know what’s worse; you can decide
But I guess we all fight because we all live different lives
And I could keep going if I wanted to
But just like I said, I have work to do
And it never ends
