TV Anchor

Beneath the flowers decayed and dead,

Beneath the ones buried and long gone ,

Long gone , victims of the massacre and the gore ,

There lies a maze , morbid and malicious.

At the center of the maze\'s ugly , beating heart ,

Lies a room, a cellar , closed and cramped in ,

It\'s walls coated in static blue , corners choked by shadows,

Shadows living and breathing.

In the midst of the cellar you cannot escape,

Lies a television; huge , heavy and hypnotising,

Out of it comes a radiation ,

Blinding and bleaching the cellar in green.

Facing the haunted television sits a sunken chair, hollow and hideous ,

Occupied by a creature who\'s name and face are lost to the dark .

The feverish static of the television suffocating the cellar,

It is time,

Time for the evening news,

Time to hear about the slain and the slaughter and go about your day,

Time to vaguely remember the atrocities and the horror.

And on flickers the news ; chanted by four tv anchors,

All perfectly normal,

With perfectly dead eyes,

And perfectly mechanical voices,

Along with a conscience perfectly unaffected by it all.

And on chant the tv anchors :

\" Behold, for once again, a woman, a human, even a child, had her legs forcibly spread ; spread by the monster with insatiable hunger ; a man . \"

\" Behold, for once again, they took the little girls , little girls aging

Seven

Six

Five

Four

Three

Two

One

...Infant ,

Little girls sold for their little organs and little legs ,

To the monster; the younger the better, legs spread like butter .\"

\" Behold, for once again, man butchering man , another life taken , torn and ripped. \"

Look again, look more closely,

Tilt your head and you\'ll see ,

Stare long enough and you\'ll find the tv anchors are unsettling,

Something alien and inhumane about them.

Look again, look more closely,

Tilt your head and you\'ll see ,

Teeth of a predator,

Eerily wide smile,

Bulging eyes ready to pop out ,

Skin tinted with just enough blue.

You step out of the television only to find ,

The creature occupying the sunken chair; hollow and hideous,

Staring ahead frozen in place,

Teeth of a predator in an eerily wide, unmoving smile ,

Bulging eyes dripping with hunger , ready to pop out ,

It\'s skin tinted with too much blue.

The creature in the sunken chair,

The man behind the slaughter,

The monster with insatiable hunger,

The one selling girls like livestock,

The one butchering life and detaching limbs .

It\'s unnaturally long limbs with tearing claws,

Shall get to you as well,

As you sit , unsuspecting and unaware ,

Watching the tv anchors.
