Things Are Going Quite Well
They say everything is going well,
that life smiles at us,
that there’s nothing to worry about.
Let’s repeat that things aren’t worse, and that’s already enough,
when everything breaks inside us,
when the house falls apart,
when everything twists,
that’s enough.
And life tells us
it still can’t get any worse.
When laughter belongs to certain streets,
and life always turns once more,
it can’t—yet somehow it does go worse for us.
And we hear how well we’re doing,
and we laugh inside,
and it’s better to stay quiet,
and just say yes.
Sure,
we’re doing fine,
tomorrow will go worse,
nothing we didn’t see coming.
We got the neighborhood of tears,
but we still put on a brave face.
And meanwhile we swing
on the comfort of writing
poems every day,
to keep living,
however we can.

NOS VA BASTANTE BIEN
Dicen que todo va bien,
que la vida nos sonríe bien,
que no hay nada de lo que preocuparse.
Repitamos que todo no va peor, y ya es bastante,
cuando se nos rompe todo, en nosotros,
cuando la casa se nos avería,
cuando todo se tuerce,
ya es bastante.
Y la vida nos dice
que no puede ir todavía peor.
Cuando la risa va por barrios,
y la vida siempre da un giro más,
no puede, pero sí que nos va peor aún.
Y escuchamos lo bien que nos va,
y nos reímos por dentro,
y mejor callar,
y decir sí.
Seguro
que nos va bien,
mañana nos irá peor,
nada que no se vea venir.
Nos tocó el barrio de las lágrimas,
pero al mal tiempo ponemos buena cara.
