i have not been
good
and yet
i said i would
when i doubt
repress the shouts
i lower my knees to pray
the God of Earth and Heaven
He knows me by name
He knew i’d bite the apple
knew I’d doubt who He can be
but He is kind
and i still find
He has love for me
i fold my arms
and close my eyes
a soft mind, a still soul
through His blood
and through this love
I can be made whole
i have not
been good
and God knew
i’d say
i would
but He knows the battle
in my heart
He knows i want
restoration
He knows i won’t depart
in spite of my temptation
He is God
He is love
He is all i need
when i flee
from covenant paths
i cannot be free
i will walk
with hands stretched out
His fingers in my own
I will try
until i’m better
and i can return home.
