My soul is pleading
from my most honest place,
not hiding,
not performing,
simply opening itself
before the One who already
knows me.
His mercy bends,
it leans toward me;
it refuses to stay distant.
Mercy is already happening,
already leaning.
A pivot of my inner soul:
no more running,
simply
exhale.
Then mercy flows like water,
quenching the deepest thirst
of my heart.
It, without cruelty, lifts me up
and whispers,
“I forgive you…”
And then I know
I am becoming
whole again.
