Getting to know you was like listening to a song
the one I play on repeat. You know I listen to music like this,
but that one was different.
Every part you revealed sounded like it added to the symphony,
and each time I chose to do the same, it felt like we were writing this song together.
Not out of necessity. Out of inevitable revelations that came with late-night talks.
The first note had me grasping, searching, longing for more.
Perhaps, because for the first time in my life I was actually seen for who I am.
And then you chose to keep seeing the real me. Every day.
You didn’t run away, even though I often was the bass that sounded aggressive on its own,
or the drums that felt deafening and depressive.
You were every elegant sound that made our melody sound hopeful and alive.
I wasn’t, but we made it work for a while, right?
