Dara Ó Rinn

Wandering souls

Tear me up and lock me down

For I am the sacred heart of the land

My roots bare deep into the soils of forever

It is lush and overgrown here

With willows and birch

And I am alone

Wilting and corroding with some bits of mine waiting for decay

There is essence all over the land

No longer allowing the past to bear its fruit

Only here and now

The now, where I am cold, nourished only by memories of daily passing bys

I still feel the life

The cold suffocation in my lungs as I attempt to fill the space with warmth and nourishment

It is now that I accept my state

My lonely piece of earth that I must cherish and guard safe

With a green haze of moss and flickering water droplets, I return to the night

Sleep, long last.
