Fall in Love, Lust, or Loss

Every time I fall in love,
                                              lust, or
                                                loss

I think \"that\'s all\"... the gall

Rampant thoughts begin to race the track

They lap; I clap,
                          and make my \"winning\" bets

While those damn butterflies plot a heart attack

Wings flap; I snap,
                          then swear off gambling

While lighting up a cigarette

I\'m a lover, not a liar: I don\'t even smoke

The occasional blunt, sure, but I just felt like I needed to rhyme

In time,
        in time,
      good time,
I\'ll stop telling myself the fabricated facts

From love, the fall of Her before

It always ends with forevermore;
                                                      the irony

To let in love, the type that lasts

I\'ll never know if I never ask

Knock knock

Who\'s there?

It\'s you, my dear,
                                                if you listen close

Past twenty-two I\'ve closed the door

No more, no more

I love myself far more than that

I love to love far more than that

I\'ll let in real love much more, in fact

The love, lust, and loss have guided me

I take the re(a)d as confirmation.
