Melancholia

In the palm of your hands

I feel like a stray dog

Smelling food in a stranger\'s hand

Approaching with caution

Hoping you’d understand

With every little step

I learn that the hand feeding me

Is doing exactly just that

No collar, no expectations

No need to perform tricks

Nor signs of fading patience

Nothing here we need to fix

Just a feeling of being chosen

Even if I were to freeze

And take my time to redefine

What life taught me to believe

You don’t assume I’m broken

With every piece of eye contact

When my soul is touching yours

I try to convince my head

What my heart already knows

This is not the man that hurt you

Didn’t abandon you at a parking lot

And before I even really knew

Closed what once was unlocked

Left me guessing what’s true

Still you saw the shining sun in me

Even if it was lately only flickering

My mind was too crowded to see

The light I was afraid to lose

Turns out I still hold the key

So keep on writing your songs

Let me know what moves your heart

Fill my speakers with your honesty

The most beautiful form of art

Painting a future through fantasy

The picture of a shared haven

A place where my name belongs

Knowing that\'s not only a vision

It’s what you are already giving

Let’s keep choosing this road

Be the comedian by day

A charming poet at night

Slowly cracking the code

To my inner device

Open your car’s door

Until I stop rolling my eyes

Hold me tight until I’m warm

Watch me dance on the floor

Continue seasoning my life

With more sparkle and spice

Between crazy and calm

Discovering what beauty lies

In this feral creature\'s heart

When it finally rests its soul

In your peaceful palm
