The Monster Walks

In lightning’s flash, the lab ignites,

A body stirs from lifeless clay.

The doctor’s hands and sleepless nights

Have brought the dead to day.

He wakes with eyes both wide and wild,

A stranger in a world so vast.

No friend, no guide, no soothing child,

No past to hold him fast.

The villagers hear his mournful cries,

The forests echo back his grief.

They chase the thing with fearful eyes,

Yet he seeks only relief.

In shadows deep, the monster roams,

A heart unknown, a mind untrained.

Through ruined halls and broken homes,

The spark of life remains.

And when the night descends again,

A silence falls on men and beast.

The horror born of mortal men

Reminds us what was least.
